About the charter
The charter consists of 10 commitments covering a wide range of sustainability topics relevant to schools. Signatories will be encouraged to set targets as they work through the charter. In year one, signatories are expected to address, at least, three of the ten commitments.
At the end of each academic year we will ask schools to fill in a short survey, so that we can celebrate the great work that is happening in schools, showcase these milestones and learnings with the wider school community and see how schools are progressing.
Charter commitments fall into two areas:
As educators:
schools commit to teaching young people to be environmentally literate
As organisations:
schools commit to ensuring any decisions around managing premises, purchasing goods and managing resources take into account their impact on the environment
