Use your purchasing power to favour sustainable and ethical products and services. Examples include energy, stationery, food and cleaning products.
Actions you could take:
- Identify opportunities within your school to influence your supply chain and reduce your indirect emissions, avoid long term inflexible contracts
- Source locally/within the UK to reduce freight emissions, identify local schools nearby and consider how you pool resources or bulk buy items
- Switch to a clean energy provider
- Choose sustainable stationery and ensure the paper you buy is certified by a recognised label
- Explore options to make eco-friendly uniforms available and accessible to students, set up uniform clothes swaps
